‘Christmas in Song’ Choir’s Holiday Gift

Lake City Community Choir’s annual Christmas gift to the Lake City community, its annual holiday concert this past Saturday evening, December 22, drew an appreciative audience to Community Presbyterian Church for a sophisticated mix of traditional carols and holiday melodies.
Tops for the audience were the melodious and vocally challenging “Still, Still, Still” by the Austrian composer Leboff, the rhythmally complex African Spiritual “Jesus, Oh, What a Wonderful Child,” and the choir’s “Christmas Sanctus” which included a solo by Carol Hartman.
Also superb during the evening performance were a series of traditional holiday medlies, sung by choir and audience, the opening selection, “Joseph’s Song” with Don Farmer solo, and choir and Amy Humphreys singing the superb “Rejoice Medley.”
Holiday choir director Janet Potter is pictured leading the audience in a sing-along, top right, and receiving thanks for choir members, top left, at the concert’s conclusion.
Saturday’s concert marked the inaugural public appearance in Lake City of piano accompanist Kristie Borchers, above left.
