State of Emergency

Today, Thursday, May 2nd, Hinsdale County verbally declared a state of emergency to address post-avalanche impacts in the high country. This will allow our community to access technical assistance and financial resources from an anticipated State of Colorado emergency declaration.

We continue to work through recovery and mitigation collaboratively with the Town of Lake City, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Land Management, the State of Colorado, and a host of other partners.

This state of emergency will be ratified by the Commissioners at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2019.

Our first public briefing on next steps will be at Coursey Annex at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
